Personal Biography
I'm Father John. I am older than many trees, but younger than most rocks. I was born in Maine (which explains a lot - it makes me a Main-iac by birth). I grew up in Michigan and have been in Arizona now for 21 years.
I was ordained a Congregational minister before Caesar Augustus, but am now retired from that career. My other caeers have included Nuclear Engineer, Assistant Director of the ASU DPS, and computer contract and project manager. (Hey, I don't make this stuff up! - except that blurb about Caesar. I think he was about 7 at the time of my ordination.)
I have been a college football fan since before Elvis (Presley, not Grbac). I am a huge Michigan fan, having listened for 20 years to the voice of Meeeeechigan football, Bob Ufer. The best era in all college football (in my humble opinion) was Bo vs Woody for the Big Ten championship every year.
My baby brother was equipment manager for Bo during the Rick Leach years and still knows him.
My eldest son, a computer engineer for Intel, graduated from Michigan. (His name is Chip, making me the Father of the Intel Chip! - hey, I said I don't make this up!)
My youngest son, an artist and web page designer, chose ASU! No jokes about ministers and their Devil sons, though!
My wife of too many years to mention (because she wouldn't want her age guessed) is an angel. We are college sweethearts who married 3 weeks after graduation.
We have been to China (1988) and Europe (1999) and went to China with Dr. Patch Adams September 2000. We spent 2 weeks with Patch dressed as clowns visiting nursing homes, hospitals, a school for the blind, etc! (Now, how could anyone make this up?)
I also play Santa every year. I love children and those 4 weeks in December are my absolute favorites times outside of college football season.
I enjoy genealogy research, having acquired about 34,000 names in my family tree database. I can trace some ancestors back to the 12th century (that's the 1100s for you Nebraska fans).
I do photo restorations (see www.grandmemories.com). I will be writing "smack" when I can this year and otherwise just predicting games... wish me luck; I'll need it.
