Father John

Born a long time ago in a far-away place, where football was never played
because it interfered with hockey season, Father John learned to love the
sport after moving to MICHIGAN as a young man. Listening to the voice of
MEEEECHIGAN football, Bob Ufer, inspired Father John to learn all he could
about the game and to become intrenched in its lore and its strategies. In
1974, his alma mater, the Central Michigan University Chippewas ("Chips"),
won the National Football Championship. The following October, he named his
first born son "Chip" in their honor. (Is that sick, or what?)
Decades later, college football is so ingrained in his blood and his heart
and his soul that Father John lives and breathes it from August through the
last bowl game. The withdrawal of January through July is so painful that
he must bury himself in other activities like clowning and genealogy just to
remain sane. (There are those that say he fails to succeed in the
"remaining sane" part, but that is another bio.)
Is "Father John" really a father or is that just a handle? He is really a
father - in both senses of the word. Ordained in the Congregational Church
1977, FJ (as he is know to his friends) is now retired from the active
ministry. He enjoys the activities of his sons, his wife, and - of course -
COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
Blessings,
Father John
